Hi Chakri,

This consumption mode define how to consume Planned independent requirements by sales orders, dependent reqts or material reservations.

there are certain options available backward, forward, backward then forward and forward then backward.

As each of the names suggests it consumes PIRs backward from the current date so on and so forth.

Refer this link for better explanation.

Hi,

Consumption modes will be required only for the finished materials for which we are entering the demand (Planned independent requirement (PIR)) in MD61.

The consumption mode in MRP 3 will be used in PP, by which the sale order will consume the PIR.

You can have backward, forward, etc. and you can give the period (backward and forward). If you enter the PIR for 1000 qty for Aug and Sep (total 2000 qtys).

If you have sale order for 1500 (if you have consumption mode as backward and forward), first it will consume the PIR for august, so the PIR for august becomes 0, and it will consume remaining 500 in sep, so the PIR for september will become 500.

If you use assembly level planning (strategy 70) where you will enter demand PIR for raw materials / assembly level, then it is necessary to enter the consumption modes. Otherwise it is not required for raw materials.

thanks,

JK
