should data always be loaded to DSO if using generic DS ??

when you are using generic data source in ecc , the data should always be loaded to DSO not InfoCube because if there are any inconsistencies it overwrites.

Is this true?

thank you

    Hi,

Its always better to have DSO before Cube. As you said, DSO has got Overwriting functionality. It can handle delta loads very well. You cam maintain granular level of data in DSO. You can also use as a staging purpose and upload to Cube.

You can also use Cube directly, delta loads can be handled by ADD type of delta. If it is full load, you need to use Delete Overlapping Request process type in Process chain to avoid data duplication.

    Hi,

Its always better to have DSO as it act as a staging layer and due to its overwritten feature it can avoid duplication of records.

Cube on other hand dont have overwritten feature so chances of duplicate records increase.

    Thanks

It is always better to have DSO in generic extractors, the possibility of duplicate records are there during safety intervals.

Whether to use DSO or cube depends on the following -

    1. No safety intervals used, delta mode chosen as 'new status...' in generic delta options - use only DSO. there is a risk of loosing some records.

    2. No safety intervals used, delta mode chosen as 'Additive status...' in generic delta options - use CUBE (or DSO with key fig set to additive in transformations/rules). there is a risk of loosing some records.

    3. lower limit safety interval used, delta mode should only be 'new status...' in generic delta options - use only DSO.

    4. Upper limit safety interval used, delta mode chosen as 'new status...' in generic delta options - use only DSO.

    5. Upper limit safety interval used, delta mode chosen as 'Additive status...' in generic delta options - use Cube (or DSO with key fig set to additive in transformations).

Unless you have a different/specefic requirement, it is always advisable to use a safety limit lower interval, delta mode 'new status...' and load this to a DSO and then to a cube.
