Hi, Expert,
We are planing to install PI and are totally new to it. Now we are asked about what are our requirements for install PI? Can anyone give some ideas on it? We are on the stage to install PI for development, not for production yet. Also, we better ask for PI 7.1 or PI 7.3? Is NWDS or CE included in the PI package? Thanks,
Charles.
Hi,
It depends on the customer decesion on which version of PI do they want to go with....You need to explain pros and cons and also ask them to contact SAP so that they could be able to finalize..

Thanks for everybody's input.
Actually I am the client who wants to install PI and am asked by consultant about the requirements. I have read the links provided and still not sure what kind of requirement we need to have.
From reading the documentation, I think PI7.1 has its own package and can be upgraded to PI7.3, while PI7.3 has to go with SAP Netweaver 7.3 package which includes PI, BI, SAP Portal, Web dynpro etc. PI7.1 package includes NWDS. But CE is not included in PI7.3. Please correct me if I am wrong.
We are going to migrate our current non SAP system to new SAP system and use PI to integrate local legacy system, 3rd party system with SAP system. Mostly we are going to use Idoc and web services, and may some of ABAP or JAVA proxies. So I think our requirement could be:
SAP PI 7.1 + EHP1 + advanced adapter engine + Oracle database. AS JAVA and AS ABAP would not be needed. Would that be enough for us development instance?
Please keep input.
Thanks,
Charles
>here PI7.3 is PI7.1 + EHP1?
No. Pi 7.3 is the latest version where you can have single stack to handle the entire thing. YOu could even use java stack alone for doing scenarios like HTTP , iDOC and so... Whereas those adapters are still in abap stack for PI 7.1 EHP.
Proxy can be handled in java stack (AAE) using soap adapter (xi as mesg protocol) in PI 7.1 EHP1. THat is not possible in PI 7.1
hi all,
we are in the planning to upgrade our landscape.
but we got alot of queries before upgrade.
currently we are having landscape as below:
3rd party software --XI3.0 adapter --XI 3.0 central -- R/3 4.7
can we have the landscape as below?
1) 3rd party software --XI 7.3 adapter --XI 7.3 central -- R/3 4.7
2) 3rd party software --XI 7.3 adapter --XI 7.3 central -- ECC6.0
3) 3rd party software --XI 7.3 adapter --XI 3.0 central -- R/3 4.7
by the way, where i can find the PI 7.3 installer? is it in NW7.3?
thanks

There is a guide to help you decide with PI 7.3

its completely depend on your client decision, PI 7.3 with two versions available in market(single java stack and dual stack),first your client side people has to identify which one to go.
Better to contact SAP with your client requirement and landscape,so that SAP will guide you with best options.
Before that you have to do initial sizing from your end like what kind of hardware is best to use.
