Kanav,

You need to increase the Current Number of RP_PREL number ranges using transaction SNRO or PA04. You need to start with the number that has been used yet.

Hi Kanav

As it is a strictly defining attribute of the employee entity, you can not change the personel numbers directly.

Firstly you can reset the pernr number range as mentioned using PA04 to provide newly created employees get numbers of that range. Then, if you want 'pernr's of your existing employees to be changed, you must replicate your employee data.

You can achieve this through numerous ways. But a hint to be inspected may be to use the "<b>Reference Personnel Number</b>" field. You might have come across this field if you have created a new employee. This way, an employee inherits some data of the reference employee. But I do not know how much of it, it would be great if it gets all, so try it.

This and that, you can write a batch input program, use one of the standard data transfer tools or utilize a BAPI to write a program.

Thank you all for replies.

Please note that you can't use any of the above mentioned solution but you need to download the data correct it and then reload in the system. The reference fields can't be used for self reference so this is not a feasible option. Even if this alternative is used there will be loads of new development required and budget will go bonkers.

The only viable solution is to reload the data. Tough life but that is how it is...!!!

Hello Kanav,

Are you saying that you want to change the Personnel Numbers (PERNRs) for the existing employees? I'm not an expert on HR but common sense tells me that this is not possible. The Personnel Number is the <b>KEY</b> for a whole lot of information in HR. And changing the existing PERNRs is equivalent to deleting all the employees and creating new employees from the scratch. I'm sure you client does not want to get into any of that...:-)

However, I suppose you can assign a new number-range for all the PERNRs that are going to be created from now on. Consult SPRO and the transaction PA04 for further details.

And Lastly, as I have said, I'm not an HR expert, so if there's a way to do it, please do let me know.

Regards,

Anand Mandalika.
