is it mandatory to use Portal components of GRC 10.0 ...?

Hi

i have installed ABAP addon of GRC 10 and its patches on a SAP ABAP 7.02 sp08 system, and RTA on a backend ecc system. and i have seen the portal part is optional...

so, could some one through some light on, what i am missing if i am not using portal package of GRC 10.0.

No you will not be missing any thing (functionality ) I guess.

Till the time you have ABAP with NWBC client you can use all functionality .

You don't require portal for GRC 10.0. In 10.0 SAP has provided inbuilt NWBC client. All GRC functionality can be used using transaction NWBC from ABAP.

But if you want more friendly screens in terms of design & layout then you go for the portal. Other advantage of using portal will be that the link of end user login page can be embedded in portal itself. So that end user need not to remeber the url for the web service of end user login page.

If you already use the SAP NW Portals to produce a single view of SAP capabilities to the user then it makes sense to deploy GRC functionality witihin it. That way, the user still just goes to one place and their portal authorisations direct them to the relevant application component for their role.

It is effectively just a different presentation layer for the GRC solution and so does not alter the overall functionality.
