processing csv files

Hi,

We have a scenario of processing csv files, since csv file has to be converted to xml before sending it to Integration Engine,I went through the file/FTP adapter documentation and found that we have to set the configuration parameters of the adapter for this conversion . But I have a scenario of different file formats (around 150)arriving in the same directory and each file will have different structure, in such case how to configure the adapter?.

Is there any other way of converting csv to xml keeping file/FTP adapter passthrough. If any one has an idea on this please let me know

Pali

    Hi Prahllad,

If sending the 150 different files to 150 different dir's is no option, maybe can have 150 different file name format's so you can find out which file format you are dealing with. Otherwise is not possible I think.

    Cheers,

    Hi Frank,

Let me be more clear it is not sending files to 150 dir's, I have to poll a single directory which will have 150 different file names and each file is having different structure of datasets ,and I have to process all the files and has to execute mapping based on the file name. But what I understood by the adapter configuration is, it is specific to a single format not multiple formats, how to handle this scenario and can we make it pass through and use some custom java programs to convert it xml.

      Hi Prahllad,

With sending it to different dir's I mean the Business systems who are sending the file to XI. If that can't be changes, you have to write an java adapter module who does the selection and conversion. I never did it, but I know it is possible. Maybe someone else has documentation about how to write adapter modules.

      Cheers,

      Frank

    Hi Frank

Does this means that content conversion feature which we can specify in the cofiguration of the file/FTP adapter is only for a single file type?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I am still not able to find the solution for this problem, can any one has come across similar scenarios please give your input.

What about using dispatcher, can we develop custom dispatcher specify that in the adapter configuration which converts csv file to xml file based on the file type, so that we can have single adapter instance running.
