HI,
We have newly upgraded our environment to BI 4.0. I see the authentication options when logging into the CMC, but the drop down is not visible in the launch pad. The launch pad has only user name and password options.
What am I missing?
Hi,
Just installed Crystal Reports and Crystal Server to test creating scheduled reports.
The user guide directs me to the Crystal Server's BI launch pad, which requests a username and password.
Any idea how I can log in to setup and test the scheduling report functionality?
Cheers,
Keith

I am also having this issue. Using the suggestions in the thread, I went to D:\Crystal\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\warfiles\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\custom (D:\Crystal was our install location) and created a file named "BIlaunchpad.properties" and inside this file, I added the lines:
authentication.visible=true
cms.visible=true
I restarted Tomcat, still no list. So, I rebooted the server, and tried it, still no luck. So, looking into the directory structure, I found the same filename under the default folder (D:\Crystal\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\warfiles\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\default). After making a copy of the file, I changed the same lines above to read as shown above. Did the restart Tomcat and also reboot the server, made no difference.
When I saved the url of the CMC to my favorites under Chrome, I noticed some querystrings in the url. I tried those same querystrings under BIlaunchpad but didn't make a difference.
During the research of this problem, there was a forum post somewhere (not here) that discusses this same thing, but goes one step farther. It said after restarting Tomcat, to wdeploy the BOE application. On just about anything I try to deploy with wdeploy or even to just list the apps available, I get output from wdeploy similar to the following:
C:\Users\Administrator>wdeploy tomcat6 -DAPP=BOE deploy
trying D:\Crystal\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\jdk
Using JAVA_HOME=D:\Crystal\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win64_x64\jdk

Could this be the problem why I'm not getting the list? Why am I getting errors such as this? During our install yesterday, we just did a straight install performing a full installation and only changing the install folder and the name of the SIA agent to something more meaningful.
I was given the task of installing Crystal Server 2011 last week as no one in the company had any experience in installing it either and I have been struggling with issues here and there but seems that most is working now, except for this and AD authentication and that I can contact our company's AD guru to get assistance.
Any help you can suggest to help me get the authentication list to show would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
David Alge

I was able to fix most of my issues. I gave the specific users that was running the wdeploy command full access to the wdeploy\logs and wdeploy\workdir folders, ran the wdeploy command, restarted tomcat and was able to see the authentication list. However, I got errors during the compilation, this is one of the errors: D:\Crystal\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\wdeploy\tomcat6.xml:564: Failed to copy D:\Crystal\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\wdeploy\workdir\tomcat6\resources\web\BOE\BOE.xml to D:\Crystal\Tomcat6\conf\Catalina\localhost\BOE.xml due to java.io.FileNotFoundException D:\Crystal\Tomcat6\conf\Catalina\localhost\BOE.xml (Access is denied) and I couldn't delete the corrupt D:\Crystal\Tomcat6\conf\Catalina\localhost\BOE.xml
It seems I have some file permissions issues. I wasn't sure if I should make these changes, but seemed to fix part of the errors, at least getting the list to appear. The specific users are administrators and the Administrators local group had full permission, but it would not go past some of the original errors until the users was added specifically in the ACL of those folders. Is there any documents describing what file permissions I should have on the folders?
During a previous install of Crystal Server 2011 this week on the server while working with the problems, I gave those specific users full access to the entire Crystal Install folder. However, I still got the error shown above or one similar.
David

In the Explorer Admin Guide, Chapter 4.6.2 there's something listed how to configure SAP Authentication for Explorer. You need to create a custom file containing the following information:
default.sapsystem.name=SAP_ID
show.sapsystem.name=true
disable.sapsystem.name=false
default.sapclient.name=100
show.sapclient.name=true
disable.sapclient.name=false
default.authentication.method=secSAPR3
authentications=secEnterprise,secWinAD,secLDAP,secSAPR3
Maybe the last line can be used in the context of LaunchPad in general, too.
I fixed it by changing the web config file.

Go to the following directory in your BI platform installation:
<INSTALLDIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI4.0\warfiles\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\custom\
If you are using the Tomcat version installed with BI platform, you can also access the following
directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps\BOE\WEBINF\
config\custom
2. Create a new file using Notepad and save the file under the following name:
BIlaunchpad.properties
4. To include the authentication options on the BI launch pad logon screen add the following:
authentication.visible=true
6. To prompt users for the CMS name on the BI launch pad logon screen:
cms.visible=true
7. Save and close the file.
8. Restart your web application server.
Hi Raj,
We have a BOBJ BI 4.0 with Tomcat as well. But I tried pasting the file as per your directions on
<INSTALLDIR>\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI4.0\warfiles\webapps\BOE\WEB-INF\config\custom\
as we dont have a BOE directory at all under Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps
Once I do this and restart the SIA and TOMCAT, I see that none of the BOE pages come up (Both Tomcat and SIA are running fine though)
Please advice.
Thanks,
Murthy VR
Thanks Raj. Your steps worked fine on Linux environment.
If anyone using BO 4.0 on RHEL the file is located under
sap_bobj/tomcat/webapps/BOE/WEB-INF/config/custom/BIlaunchpad.properties
This file BIlaunchpad.properties has 2 lines in it
authentication.visible=true
cms.visible=true
Restart tomcat and launch BI Launch pad you will see the drop down with all options.
Thanks,
Ramesh
