I am installing Web AS 6.4 from a set of DVDs (partners phase 3 ramp up) sent to us directly from SAP in a Solaris 5.8 64bit machine.
I enter all information requested by SAPinst from INSTALLATION MASTER DVD and everything seems to start correctly. However, when the SAPinst is about to create a new user in the Solaris system (in my case, gbsadm), I got the error
Unable to create account user="gbsadm". UX: /usr/sbin/useradd: ERROR: Unable to create the home directory: Operation not applicable. (return code 12)
What I have to change in my Solaris system to prevent this error?
Thanks a lot
Fernando
Hi Fernando,
in this case, try to create the user gbsadm on your own before running SAPInst. It will then recognize, that the user already exists and continue. Sometimes the user (group) creation was nevertheless successful and a re-run of SAPInst will continue, too.
I had the same issue on HP-UX.
