hello everybody

I am very new EP so i dont know if this question is a lame one but here is my problem.

There are more than one content developers for us so all of them should have the role to develop content. But i do not want content admin role to all of them as they will be able to change other folders which they should not be changing. So if anyone can please tell me if I can create a role that will enable the users to create content(iviews, pages, etc)in their folders and cannot access the folders that they do not have permission to.Because when I gave content admin role to them everybody is able to see and change everybody's work.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Hi Robert

Thank you so much for the quick response.

I am not able to change the end user permissions because there is a role called eu_role which has owner permissions and is included for all objects.I am unable to delete this role from the permissions editor nor able to change it because it is grayed out like the default super_admin role.

Any help!!!

Thanks

Hi Swetha,

ok, so then you have to edit the eu_role. Normally there is more then one, so take care you open the one from the permission editor (or you can check both).

What you have to look for, after opening the role in PCD, is that there is no UME Action set in the properties list. Set the UME Actions all to "No", save the role, and restart the server.

After this it should be possible to remove the eu_role from the permissions list.

Hope this helps,

Robert

Hello

Let me continue this thread.

I have got Portal 7.0 SR2 (NetWeaver2004s SPS10).

It doesn't work what you has written in EP7.

I create role, add content_admin_ws to it, login with new role, go to content administration. As the result I see following (in PCD):

===

Portal Runtime Error

An exception occurred while processing a request for :

iView : N/A

Component Name : N/A

Access denied (Object(s): com.sap.portal.system/security/sap.com/NetWeaver.Portal/medium_safety/com.sap.portal.appdesigner.contentcatalog/components/Framework).

Exception id: 11:35_02/04/07_0034_108926650

See the details for the exception ID in the log file

===

Support service says, that is unable to work with content_admin_ws Workset without content_admin_role Role.

My question - How can I restrict permissions to folders for different developers ?

Best regards,

Evgeny

Hi Robert

You are right. The enduser role has owner rights on all the folders.where do I go to change this permission.

Thanks

Hi Swetha,

you can change the permissions on the folder "Portal Content" to Everyone = Read (+ End User permission) and then click on "Reset Child Permissions" so that all subfolders inherit this change. But with this, all permissions changes to subfoldes will be lost.

The other possibility is to change the permissions to Everyone = Read on the second level, so for ALL subfolders of "Portal Content".

BTW: You change permissions by right clicking on the folder -> Edit -> Permissions.

Hope this solves you problem,

Robert

Hi Swetha,

check following things:

1. The user has ONLY the new created content_admin role (and no other roles like super_admin_role).

2. On all other folders "everyone" should have only read permission. This should be inherited from the "Portal Content" folder by default.

If you checked both, please write the permission list of any folder the user should not access and the name of the new role. Write also the SP version.

Robert

Hi Swetha,

you only have to perform two steps:

1. Create a new role which should contain the "Content Administration" workset (com.sap.portal.content_admin_ws)and assign it to the users.

2. Give this role "Full Control" Permission to the subfolder in which those users should create content.

This should help you achieve what you were looking for.

If you still have questions on this issue fell free to ask.

Best regards,

Robert
