Bug (?) with WEViewer function (WebElements)

Hi everybody

I have the following problem: If I use the WEViewer function (of WebElements 2.46) and specifiy both parameters to be "Suppress" everything works as expected (say toolbar and scrollbars are suppressed). But on the top left corner of my report there still the sign with the two bars || appears (which usually is there to show / hide toolbar etc.). I would expect this sign not to be shown if both parameters are set to supporess. In addition, if you click on the sign, it links to http://<servername>:8080/CrystalReports which of course doesn't show anything.

Any idea where to look for the bug in the WEViewer function?

Best regards

Raphael

hi Raphael,

Thanks for using the webelements function library.

There is a function called wePlatform that must be set for your reports in order for the functions that rely on it to work correctly.

You must disconnect this function from the repository (right click on the function in the formula expert), then edit the platform to match yours, and then save the report back to your enterprise system.

You can also save the changed version of the wePlatform function back to your repository so you don't have to keep making the above change for each new report containing webelements.

cheers,

Hi Jamie

In our case the wePlatform is set to "XI 3.0 Java" which is the correct one. Still the problem exits. We have XI 3.1 SP3 FP 3.4

Any other idea?

hi Raphael,

there are two options here...

a) have you tried the webelements 247 beta that is [here|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/22603] [original link is broken] [original link is broken] [original link is broken];?

b) if that doesn't work for you either then we're almost done with the webelements 247 final version...if you add your email address to your SCN profile / business card then i can email the latest version to you

i believe that there was a couple of issues after a recent fix pack.

Thanks for this - I'll try the beta asap. And I made my email address visible so you can email me when the new version is out. Does this bring BO 4.0 support as well?

hi Raphael,

the most recent 247 beta has been sent to the email on your business card.

this one i know addressed an issue close to the one that you experienced.

let us know how it works. there's a couple new functions in the 247 build but there's no users guide readied at this point to tell you how to use them...like the ability to hide or show controls based on a specialized control, a "spinner" type control.

these are both used at the experience.sap.com site if you want to have a look at them like though...

1) go [here |http://experience.sap.com/experience/html/Pages/egrid/index.htm]

2) press the link for the plant performance reporter...this was done with newer webelements

3) the state / county control is the show hide one that's new

4) the net energy spinners are also new

also, while you're on the experience.sap.com site if you live in the US and want to win some $ for tickets, while using sap products and having some fun...sorry for the shameless promotion of our web site

1) click [here |http://experience.sap.com/experience/html/Pages/index.htm]to go the experience.sap.com baseball site

2) press the "use insight" link and there's a contest every week that you can enter just by answering a question on baseball

cheers,

Hi jamie

For now I've just tested the weViewer function with 2.47 beta. It works "a little bit" better, meaning that you still see the two bars ( | | ) at the right border of the report, but if you click on it nothing happens except a short screen flickering. But no "page not found" error anymore. If the two bars could be removed completely (as long as you set the corresponding parameter to "suppress") it would be perfect.

Thanks for your support!

PS: The experience SAP website is just great. Will show it at a customer demo this afternonn

thanks Raphael for the info on the beta. just to let you know that we're working on a bunch of cross-browser tweaks before it gets released.

can you let us know what version of boe (e.g. xi 3.1 sp3) and which browser & browser version you're using?

and thanks for using the experience site...best of luck if you enter the baseball contest

Hi Jamie

I found the following:

- BO Version 3.1 SP4 (but it happened too with SP3 FP3.4)

Mozilla Firefox 3.6.3 --> The link behind the two bars is the follwoing:

http://<servername>:8080/CrystalReports/viewrpt.cwr?id=191055&init=null%3Aconnect&apstoken=itldemow2...

IE 8.0.7600.16385 --> The link behind the two bars is the following (and here it doesn't work - obviously I did my tests in Firefow when I wrote the last time...)

http://<servername>:8080/CrystalReports/

hi Raphael,

thanks for the info. just to let you know there are a bunch of issues now being addressed in webelements 247 due to changes in the viewers. these are especially important for cross-browser issues. we still hope to release the webelements 247 candidate soon (but delayed a bit) so keep your eyes open at the main webelements page [here|] in a couple of weeks.

thanks,

hi Raphael,

quick question...when you call the report that contains the weviewer function, are you calling it via an opendocument link?

if so, do you use &toolbar=hide on that link?

if you answered "yes" to both of those questions, then try calling the report without the &toolbar=hide switch on the opendocument url. what is most likely happening in that case is that the toolbar object never gets created so the functions in the weviewer control are referencing a null object.

No, I just opened the reports using InfoView.
