Changing FY Variant

Former Member

Hello,

Currently, in our FY variant, the last period for 2011 is set to end on 9/24/2011. The last period for 2011 should be ending on 10/1/2011. When I tried to extend the last period, the system delivers this warning message FGV618, "Changing the period assignment can cause inconsistencies". I backed out and did not save changes.

We do not do any apprciation in SAP and the period in question has not been posted to yet.

Is making this change under our current circumstances going cause any harm?

Hi,

It isn't recommended after posting s in company code. If you have postings in future for periods that could be extinct you will have inconsistencies. Anyway you can change the Variant on the first day of the new fiscal year variant.

I'm not understanding your response. Can you please elaborate.

Is this a question or a statement?

Dear,

you can change the Fiscal Year Variant. It is allowed only in first day of the new fiscal year variant. If you new FYV starts in 10/01/2011 then you can make change on this very date.
