Customizing an Extractor

Dear All,

we need to modify the standard R/3 data extractor in order to extract an additional information that, at the moment, it is not taken from R/3.

Could you please provide me the best way to do that task?

    Hi Roberto,

    this depends on the data source and the fields you want to add. If you are dealing with LO datasources, you can easily add more fields to the extract structure using the customizing cockpit. May be you need to enhance the extract structure by a append structure. In this case you also have to do some coding to fill the fields ....

    Please let us know the data source and may be also the fields.

    We created our datasource in R/3 and we created an extractor. All went fine.

    In BW we replicated the DataSources and we were able to see the new datasource.

    Then we created an InfoSource pointing at our new datasource and an ODS. The problem is that when we tried to create the update rule for the ODS the following messagge appeared:

    "InfoObject 0recordmode is missing from the InfoSource"

    We went in the infosource and we try to add that infoobject but we do not know how to manage it.

    In the standard structures (Warranty Claim Header/Item) that infoobj is not managed.

      Hi Roberto,

      0RECORDMODE is a field used in transfer rules to determine what type of record has arrived and tells BW what action has to be done with the particular record and is specially useful in ODS. You dont need to modify your data source to supply this one. In your Transfer Rules, just add 0RECORDMODE in the communication structure and dont map anything on it. The warning will not pop anymore...

    Hi Roberto,

    The 0RECORDMODE message is just a warning, not an error. Hit ENTER key, it will go away.

    Do you have a script for creating datasource in R/3 and BW? Please send me some documentation. Thanks.
