Loading Master Data Text to DSO.

Hi Seniors,

I have a requirement to load Master Data Text from an Infobject. The Info Object has ID, Language and Short Text.

How can I specify the Short Text element of the infobject in a DSO?

Appreciate any suggestions.

Hi

You cannot see/ View master data text in DSO. Only InfoObject data is visible.

Now If you want text to be dispaly in the BeX query , then drag that Characteristic Info Object in the column . In the properties of that InfoObject(at BeX) report under display select display as text .

Or If you also want InfoObject value and text to display in report then select Key & Text.

hi,

Open the info object in RSD1 and goto the tab master data /text. Over there you can choose the text type you want to maintain.

After that goto the Business explorer tab and maintain the settings of Bex reports as per the text type selected in the text tab.

In the report you will directly get an option of key and text for this object.

I think your answer is closest to the solution I am looking for. The text should apprear othe report, so does that mean I can simply have the info object in my DSO and the text will be there along with it based on language?

In that case I can have the infobject ID in the DSO. Is there a way I can see the text when I display the DSO content without have a Bex query?

You cannot display the text element if you display the data in the dso.

In the dso, you will see only the key part.

If you want to display the text part, you have to right click on the infoobject (in the RSA1 tree > infoobject ) and choose "maintain masterdata".

Fill the requiered entries and then the text element will appear

How about in the report? Will the report developer be able to display the text instead of the ID when using this DSO?

Pardon my ignorance as I am new to BI and not familar with Bex.

Yep, if you right click in the bex, you will have options :

Display key

Display text

Display key and text.

But obviously, you have to fill the master data text before

Warn to the langage. If you fill in english only and if the user connect in French, i will cannot see the text element.

So, you don't have to load the infoobject text INTO the DSO, you just have to load the infoobject.

Then, load the master data of this infoobject and you will be able to display text element in a report (based on the DSO).

Excellent, this is the answer I was looking for.

The Master Data Texts have been loaded to the infoobject.

I am getting the ID from the source in the transcations and I am mapping the ID the DSO. So I dont need to worry about the Text as the Text is part of the Infoobjects Text.

Just that I wasnt seeing it anywere in the DSO data display and so wondering how it will be visibile in Bex.

Also I do understand that if the user logs in with French, it will not display any text.

So I will go ahead and define the infoobject in the DSO and once done the Bex guy can do the needful.
