Production Verions issue

Hi Gurus,

I have a qeustion about Produciton Verions functionality, we created some order with proudciton verions A and those order were created in APO, then we changed the Production verions in the material since we wanted to use new production verion for the the new materials, new production version is working fine for the new orders. however there is a probelm with old ordres we get an error message Production version invalid.

I thought if we create a produciton order and after its creation if make changes to BOM those changes will not be affecting already created production orders, if thats true then how come there are affects in production verions. Plz Help thanks you

    Zach,

    Not so.

In most companies, one handles such changes with a new PV, which has a new validity date range. It seldom makes sense to change the contents of an existing production version, unless there are NO orders yet.

I would wonder how you would keep track of how a specific order was manufactured, if you used the same PV, but with more than one method of manufacturing.....

    Best Regards,
