Problem Adding Destination After Patch 5

Former Member

We are experiencing a problem when attempting to add a Destination to a Portal system in the Server Explorer in VS 2003. We can connect to the Portal just fine, but when attemtping to add the destination we receive

an error stating "Failed to connect:portal may be down. Click 'Refresh' after checking portal status and connection parameters."

This error has never occurred for us until now, and it seemed to show up after the application of Patch 5 for the Portal. Any thoughts?

I'm getting this same problem with .Net PDK 1.0 Patch 1 and SAP EP6 SS10.

I suspected after I posted that may have been it. I'm working with my server engineers and portal admins to get this all set up now. Thanks!

We are running PDK version 1.0 without Patch 1 since we are not on the NetWeaver stack yet. We are using EP 6.0 Patch 5 for the Portal server.

Do you mean you are on the original EP, without any SPs??

The PDK (without the patch) is meant for SP6.

Sorry for the misunderstanding...

We are on the following Portal revision: 6.0.2.5.0.Enterprise_Portal_Service_Pack_2

So, sp2 - Patch 5 - HF 0 looks like.

So as I saied... it doesn't work on SP2.

Well, if that's true, then the Installation and Configuration Guide is not correct. It states that you only need to have an EP 6.0 Portal at the following patch level: SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 Service Pack 2 (Patch 3 or above).

If this is not correct, then please let me know where I can find this documentation that specifies sp6 as a requirement. Thanks.

There is no correct documentation I can point you to at this stage (since the online docs are for patch 1)... but you'll have to trust me on this, this was written in the config guide that was deliovered with the GA. Anyway you can look at the documentation of patch 1 here:
