VBAP - TECHS field check in the item incompletion procedure of a sales orde

Hi Everybody,

While saving sales order I am getting the message Item 000020 can only be changed by configuring material 10424 (item 000010). Did anybody experience this before? After digging in a bit, i found the system is looking for a value in VBAP - TECHS field.

Just a little of background.

We have Super BOMs with some some of the components having Object dependencies. Right now, the requirement is to create a new BOM with a new material. I created new OD's and assigned to these new materials.

When i explode the BOM with variant configuration on the order the system is issuing this message.

I am looking forward for your suggestions on how to go about solving this issue. Helpful answers will be rewarded.

Hello Saravni.

When do you get this error? Do you try to access configuration for item 20 ? As this is when you generally get the error . Incase Subitem 20 is not configurable you will get this error but if you are getting this error when accessng this order then it must be something elese ? Can you please provide more details and 5 digit error code ?

Hello Amber,

I am also getting the same error. I am unable to complete the Sales Order.

Item 000020 can only be changed by configuring material 870000004 (item 000010)

Message no. V1456

Just to give more insight to the problem, Material 870000004 has Item Category 0002 and its components in Super BOM has NORM as Item category. I have object dependency(selection condition) for one of the sub component.

Could you please help me in this regard or let me know if you need more data to analyze the problem.
