BI Portal "SupportDesk" tool result == iView Permissions Issue

Former Member

I am having some issues with my BI Portal (BEx tools don't work).

After running the "SupportDesk" tool, as per Note 937697, one of the issues (RED Light) is with "BI iView Permissions":

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

1)

Check Message = The iView at 'com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.rritransaction' does not have necessary permissions for being called directly

Solution = Add 'End User' permission for user group 'Everyone'

to iView at 'com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.rritransaction'

2)

Check Message = The BI Report-Report Interface iView does not have the necessary permissions for being called directly.

Solution = See note 983683 for details

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

I have read Note 983683, but I cannot apply it, since "BEx Launcher" is NOT available for me!!!

I am using IE8.

Bets regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Does your user have "Administrator" role? If yes, then the error should not occur.

Or else as the message suggests -> Navigate to the iView "'com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.rritransaction" via the Portal contet administration.

And add the "end user" permissions for group "Everyone".

Hi Srikishan, thank you for your reply!

YES, the user (J2EE_ADMIN) does have "Administrator" role!

I follow the steps of the Note (983683), but I don't have the option of BEx Launcher !!!

It seems that either the Note (983683) is old or I am missing some SPs !!!

Hi Tom,

This is strange.

Could you also try adding the 'End User' permission for group "Everyone" by navigation to the corresponding iView from the Portal Content Administration?

Hi Srikishan, thanks again!

I am finding the 'Everyone' goupd, via the 'User Administration' tab of the portal, and not the 'Content Administration'.

<Q1> Is this the proper way ?

<Q2> By reading the Note 983683 (step 3), <<< add this to the list of assigned authorizations. Set the value "None" in the selection field of the "Administrator" column and set the indicator "User". Save your changes. >>>

How do I do this ??

I don't have anything saying 'assigned authorizations', I might have been on the wrong tab ?

Hi Tom,

The user administration can control the users, groups and roles. But in this case we need to change permissions for the actual iView which would be available under the tab "Content Administration".

Goto the content administration page.

Using path 'com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.rritransaction', navigate via the folder structure to the exact iView.

An example with screen : http://www.sapdev.co.uk/sap-webapps/sap-portal/iview-wdp.htm

Once you find the iView, open its permission properties. You would be able to add "End User" permission for group.

Srikishan, thanks again!

Under the iViews folder << by folloing the path (as per Note 983683) "Content Administration -> Portal Content" and then go to "Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> Platform Add Ons -> "Business Intelligence -> iViews >>, I am having the following entries ( I wish I had a way to attach a screenshot of my portal):

--- BEx Analyzer (ID = pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.bexanalyzer)

--- BEx Broadcaster (ID = pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.bex_broadcaster)

--- BEx Analyzer (Format SAP BW 3.5) (ID = pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.broadcaster)

--- BEx Document Migration (ID = pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.documentmigration)

--- BEx MME Handler

--- BEx Portofolio

--- BEx Web

etc...

I don't have the entry BEx Launcher, as the Note 983683 suggests!!

Again, thanks for your assistance.

Hi Tom,

As per the error message:

Solution = Add 'End User' permission for user group 'Everyone'

to iView at 'com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.rritransaction'

The iView com.sap.ip.bi.rritransaction requires the permission. As per the help link:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp2/helpdata/en/4b/22e55a37c47394e10000000a42189b/content.htm

com.sap.ip.bi.rritransaction corresponds to BEx Web (RRI) iView.

Check if the BEx Web RRI is in the iView list and try giving the permissions to this.

Hey Srikishan,

Good job!!!

The entry "BEx Web (RRI)" iView is the same as "BEx Launcher" !!!!

NOW I AM ABLE TO FIX THE ISSUE.

SAP has to do a better job, with documentation.

Best regards,

Tom
