What is .Net Connector

Hello,

I have a R/3 system. What could I do with .Net Connector? Is it possible to develop a R/3 web part and insert it into Sharepoint portal? Is it easy to get R/3 data (tables content or BAPI result)?

What do we need to install for it? Do we need a SLD?

I know there are lots of questions, but I would be very interested in all answers.
