Planning of cyclical products in APO PP/DS

I am using APO PP/DS V5.1.

Many of the products need to be manufactured in 2 weekly cycles, some in even weeks (weeks 2,4,6 etc), some in odd weeks (weeks 1,3,5 etc).

Can anyone advise on the best way to model this in PP/DS?

you can use Block Planning for that.

    [Block Planning|]

In Block Planning the periods are controlled by characteristics but you can also use Block Planning without characteristics.

    [Block Planning Without Configuration|]

You use Block Planning if you know the periods of your cycles in advance.

Or you can also use Production Campaign Planning.

    [Production Campaign Planning |]

Here you build the campaigns after you have created the planned orders. The campaigns are flexible in duration and end and start date.

Or you use a simple workaround with resource modeling.

You create a resource for every different period you have. The total capacity represents the you real resource has during a period.

You assign this resource to the routing for the product which shall be manufactured in one period.

In the resource calendar you create working times during the periods where the resource shall be available for the particular product(s) which shall be manufactured on the resource. On other times the resource has no available capacity.

You can also create part time available capacity with that model with overlapping periods with ramp up and cool down phases.

for example on one day there is 30 % capacity for resource 1 and 70 % available capacity for resource 2. That would result in a production of product 1 of 30 pieces and 70 pieces of product 2 on that day.
