Hi ALL,
Need clarification on the below topic
Import Manager Maps:
1. uploading an excel file into import manager and mapping source and destination fields and saving the map before import can be considered for further uploads eg., importing another excel file of same structure and selecting the previously saved map, by doing this we donot have to manually map the source and destination fields.?
2.can this saved map can be exported to the local drive and imported for another repository?
3. are the maps exported saved in XML format?
4. maps in XML format can be imported and changed as per the requirement.?
documents with detailed process description would be of great help.
Thanks
sandhya.

All of your doubts have been adderessed in a beautiful way by above responce. Yes you can import/export your maps and these are reusable for the same structure.
A map is useful if you want to save your work before you have performed the import, if you want to subsequently apply the same transformations for future imports of additional records or updates from the same data source, or if you want to later use the map in conjunction with MDIS processing
you can follow page 72-77 of SAP MDM Import manager guide to get more insights on Import maps.

Hello Sandhya
Follow the replies below-
1. Yes. Thats why we have Open map functionality. Provided the source file in the same structure as used for prepring the map we can open the map and do the import.
2. Yes. We can do export and import of the import maps.
3. Correct again!!
4. Yes. After the import we can make changes in Import manager client and save the map with new name/same name. Dont change the map(xml file) using xml editor.
Thanks-Ravi
