Using Solution Manager 7.0 to Generate Solution Key for SAP Netweaver 7.3 ?

Hi, SDN Gurus.

We are running Solution Manager 7.0.

I am trying to generate solution key for SAP Netweaver 7.3 system. When I was creating a new system (in TCode SMSY); I only see Newtweaver 7.1 is the latest version available in the SAP Netweaver product version drop down list.

Is that true that I always need to upgrade the latest/compatible version (SP & patches) of SAP Solution Manager to generate solution key for the latest released of SAP products?

If this is the case, what version of SAP Solution Manager I need to create new system and generate solution key for SAP Netweaver 7.3?

Hi,

Yes, a minimum SP level for the ST* components would required to create product systems based on the newest product versions. The new SPs bring in the content required to handle latest product versions.

For Netweaver 730, your solution manager should ideally be at Stack 26.

I just checked in SMP, the latest SPS available is 27 (Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1).

My current version is Solution Manager 7.0 SPS15.

I am downloading all the SP and patches from SPS15 to SPS27. I am referring to SAP Notes 1244225 now. I am still having some doubts the step by step producers to import all these SP files I am downloading.

Can you give me some guidance on this?

Hi KC,

The note 1244225 should be the best starting point for your update activities. As I understand you are already downloading the stack relevant support packages. Apply the ABAP SPs via SPAM and Java ones via JSPM. Once complete the solman_setup transaction is to be used to complete the post update activities.

After this you should be able to generate the solution key for the new product version systems as well.

The current SAP Solution Manager is on 7.0 SPS15.

For applying the ABAP SPs, do I use SPAM or SAINT? What are the difference?

According with this note below, you must use SAINT.
