BEx: Characteristic master data

Former Member

Hello

I have a questions regarding the customizing of BEx settings of master data, in our case "business partner".

Selection of Filter Values for Query Execution in BW (backend) -> Values in Master Data Table

A defined BEx query which also uses this master data "business partner" has the following setting for it:

Filter Value Selection during Query Execution -> Only Values for InfoProvider

With this setting I assume that the setting in the master data of BW are oversteered.

I would like to see in my filter variable only business partners which are connected to transactional data in my Infoprovider (cube).

But it does not work, also business partners with no data in the cube are selected in the filter variable.

Any ideas?

Thanks

BEO

the workbench settings are taken as default values when you use the infoobject in a query. they can be overwritten in the designer. you need to put it back to the default value to get what you want.

Hello M

I have already changed the setting in Query Designer.

But us described, the overwriting mechanism seems not to work.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

If you select the "Master data object" it will get the data all master data recordes related to that particular Business Parnter.

Hello Venkat

But if you use this setting in den Designer:

Filter Value Selection during Query Execution -> Only Values for InfoProvider

it should restrict the offered values.

Thanks

Hi BEO,

i think so your not loading any business patner data to target. This report bulid on infoset. That info set is used in multiprovider.

Is it right.

That option will work.

Thanks and Regards,

Venkat.

No, sorry, only infoproviders are in partproviders of the multiprovider. No infoset.

Hi Venkat

The Query Designer setting for business partner is as follows:

Filter Value Selection During Query Execution: Only Values in InfoProvider

It does not work.

Hello BEO,

I assume that business partner is a line item dimension? Then It doesn't work. You can only get values from master data table.

If this is the case for validation check the following SAP note:

1517248 - F4 help uses M mode instead of D mode for line item characteristic

If it is absolutly necessary to show only values in the infoprovider, there is a new workaround depending on your BW release. Look for note 1416952 - F4-Badi

Best regards,

Hello Peter

No, business partner is not in a line item dimension.

Do you still think that note 1416952 might be a solution for my problem.

Thanks

If this is not the case that bp is line item in the InfoCube, than at the moment I also don't know what it could be. Check the note but I don't think it can help you.

As far as I understand your situation, you have the setting to show only values from InfoCube in the BEx Query Designer it should work.

Do you have a 7.x or a 3.x BW? For 7.x you can find hint's in note 984229 for 3.x in note 796737, maybe one will help you.

We are also just discussing 1416952 for a line item case at the moment. Haven't implemented and tested it yet, because we would need a higher enhancement package on our system. If you will try out it would be interessting to hear from you.

Regards,

Peter

Hi BEO,

is this query created on the multiprovider with more than one infoprovider?

have you checked whether any transaction data available in the all the infoproviders?

Thanks,

Krishnan

Hello Krishnan

Yes, the query is sitting on a MultiProvider. None of the single providers have entries for the "unwished" business partners.

Any ideas?

Thanks
