Hello all. Or at least those of you that have made it over from the old community forum 🙂
I'm wondering how you all handle inspection point frequency for your 04 inspection lots. As far as I know, the only somewhat standard solution from SAP is to pre-create the inspection points based on your criteria when the lot is created. This really isn't ideal because there are a lot of failure points such as:
- the order gets cut short so you have to force close insp points
- The order runs longer so you have to manually create points anyway
- A long list of inspection points that must be scrolled through.
What we would like is for the system to create them as the production order progresses. Somewhere we would maintain the frequency by operation for the material, say test every X hours, and the system would create the next inspection point(s) when it is time and as the order runs.
The more I think about it, the better it may be to put this logic in our MES system and then have the MES system call to SAP via RFC to create the points. Anyway, i'm curious to hear how you all handle this scenario. Thank you!
