To understand the concept -

There are 3 things -

1. Material manufacturing etc. finished & ready (to deliver to customer) - sitting in your delivering plant.

2. Time taken (in days) by all activties to take material from delivering plant to customer Ship To address.

3. Date at which goods should reach Ship To address

E.g.1

1. mat ready on 10August 2011

2. time taken (in days) = 10days

3. If customer wants goods at SH address on 20 August or after words

- Then everything is OK and deadline can be met.

Here Backward scheduling takes place.

E.g. 2

E.g.

1. mat ready on 10August 2011

2. time taken (in days) = 10days

3. If customer wants goods at SH address on 15 August

- Then everything is NOT OK and deadline NOT can be met. Deadline (point 3) has to be changed from 15 Aug to 20 Aug

Here Forward scheduling takes place.

Being an old member, I dont want to highlight the forum rules to you and you should be aware of where it has been specifically mentioned NOT to post any basic or repeated questions in the forum. Before posting, you should ensure that it is not answered already.

This topic has been discussed many times and I am sure, you will also accept this. Please search the forum, analyse on your own and still if you need any assistance here, you can very well post the same.

thanks

Hi Sumanth,

In case of Availability Check a system always runs a backward scheduling i.e (calculating transportation planning date + PIcking +Packing date) System will calculate the total number of days which required for above activity. hence would subtract from required delivery date. If your your availability check is in past then it will do Forward Sceduling and if the dates are in future then it will do backward scheduling.

For Eg: If your system date is 11th july and for warehouse activity takes 3 days, Availability date is 12th JUly, but your required delivery date is 14th July.. Iin this case you see the availability date goes in past so it will go for forward scheduling.

Eg: If your system date is 11th july and for warehouse activity takes 3 days, Availability date is 12th JUly, but your required delivery date is 15th July.. Iin this case you see the availability date goes in futureso it will go for backward scheduling

Note: System always carry backward scheduling first and then forward scheduling if required.

this is per my knowledge..plz correct me if i am wrong.
