In BPC
10.1 we have our data manager package for company and account hierarchy
update based on what the backend system shows as the hierarchy. Also, our
business users like to update the hierarchy on the frontend (in BPC 10.1 web
interface) on how they want to see the members displayed.
They move some of the members around in the hierarchy based on how they
want to see it. However, the next month they import master data, the data
manager package overwrites the changes they made even though the package is
configured to 'Update' and not 'Overwrite'.
In BPC 7.5 the system did not overwrite any changes to the member hierarchy
that the users made on the frontend.
We are looking to see if BPC 10.1 treats 'Update' differently from BPC 7.5?
If so, how can we configure BPC 10.1 to 'Update' and not overwrite even with
the update option selected?
Hi Andrey,
As per this document PG.NO. 17.
http://www.sap.com/documents/2015/08/26ef2552-557c-0010-82c7-eda71af511fa.html
Section BPC Data Manager – Run Package
In contrast to the BW master data package which can be run in update or overwrite mode, the BW hierarchy import package always works in overwrite mode. Be advised it also clears any other existing hierarchies which are not specified in the Data Manager package Set Selection filter and Conversion File mapping. So if you need to import more than one BW hierarchy from the same source InfoObject into BPC, it is necessary to transfer these in the same Data Manager package execution step rather than in separate execution runs to avoid clearing the other hierarchies.
Workarounds are suggested in the documents. I guess this behaviour might not have been changed in 10 & 10.1.
Regards,
JP

Anyone found solution to this problem yet? We are facing the same issue, the BW hierarchy load is overwriting sort order changed through BPC frontend. We tried adding parameter DM_KEEP_SRC_SEQ=Y at global, environment and model levels (through SPRO), but didn't help retain the hierarchy sort order.
Our version: BW 7.5 SP07 on HANA 2.0, BPC 10.1, EPM 30
The link shared by member JP above doesn't work either.
Thanks!
Unfortunately it won't allow me to change the tag - unless you know of a way...?
BW version is 7.4 (740) SP 12
EPM is SP 23.2

What about core BPC SP?
"Unfortunately it won't allow me to change the tag - unless you know of a way...?" Just press action button on the right of your question, select edit and change the primary tag to "SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation, version for SAP NetWeaver" What's the issue?
"My understanding is that it is 740 SP12" - incorrect understanding...
"810 - I think its 810" - it's a version, but not SP!
Please look here how to find BPC version and SP:

Vadim,
I was having a hard time with this new web interface from SAP - thanks for providing correct tag.
In the screenshot you can see the selection I have made to only 'update' my hierarchy and not overwrite the changes made to the hierarchy on the frontend in BPC 10.1. Unfortunately, this package continues to overwrite even with the 'update' selection. hierarchy-selection.pngtransformation-file.png
