rep. agent runtime

Hi,

I'm running rep. agent to pre-cal. my template having 6 queries from different data providers. It works fine but the time to run my rep. agent is almost 2hrs. I'm using a control query to filter out the pre-cal. but still it takes 1.5hr. created more aggregates on the cubes but not sure how this is going to effect rep. agent.

can anyone suggest ways to reduce the time taken to pre-cal....

thanks....

Hi dear,

I would suggest to take a look to the OSS Note 745641 'Memory-related terminations in Reporting Agent' in which configurations and information referred to in this note also apply if the performance of the Reporting Agent pre-calculation is poor (long runtimes), as in your situation.

From this note you can easily analyze also all the other notes related to your problem.

Hope it helps (and please don't forget to assign some points by clickin'on the yellow star to the contributors that help you... for details see /people/mark.finnern/blog/2004/08/10/spread-the-love ...)

thanks for the reply. In our case the rep. agent is running fine without any memory problems. we are filling the cache using rep. agent but the web repor doesn't hit the cache sometimes...

will create more aggregates and check the runtime of rep.agent...

we don't have any loads or sem cubes filled after the rep. agent job fills the cache...the web reports are not hitting the cache always..

does anyone has any input....

thanks

Hi,

first of all you should find out whether your problem is related to the reporting agent itself (if so follow Roberto's advice) or if the queries run slow independent of the reporting agent. Then other performance measures like aggregates are appropriate. Aggregates will be used by reporting agent queries just the same as other queries. Please also see the performance section on the BW pages in SAP Service Marketplace.
