Unit of Measure display in Web UI

Former Member

Hello everyone,

In SMI Overview my materials are displayed with the Base unit of measure (EA), though I need them to be displayed in the Order Unit of Measure (M2).

I noticed that in other windows, e.g. Purchase Order Detials I can toggle between Base unit of measure and Document unit of measure, however, I can't do that in the SMI overview window. According to SAP Help as a default, the document unit of measure is displayed, which should be in my case M2. Am I missing a configuration to display the right UoM in the SMI Overview window?

Thank you for your help!

J

Hi Johanna

It will display Base unit of measure which is in your case EA

There is no conversion available here, as you see in PO details screen

SAP did not provide this option.

I think since this SMI and you also have packing function which needs to be managed by base unit. No order unit as supplier himself will trigger the replenishment

But good to have feature

Vinot,

that's the conclusion I came to too. I have opened an OSS connection to get this resolved. How do you use SNC with your suppliers? Do you always trade in the Base Unit of Measure?

Thank you for your help,

We use base unit of measure, no such requirement came across

Please share your experience once that gets fixed

Hello J,

When we have implemented SNC supplier use to send the data in ordering UOM.

Only thing you need to make sure supplier sends proper ISO code.

Nikhil,

the supplier can certainly send data in order UoM, however, our demand and stock information is still displayed in Base UoM. I can not expect suppliers to make that conversion manually to determine how much stock they need to send. Especially as it is a conversion from EA to M2.

Johanna,

In SNC most of the transaction happens in base UOM only so it is good if supplier the demand data in base UOM.

Then there is no need to ask supplier to send the demand in ordering UOM.

But in our case supplier's were having different UOM what customer is having.

This is reason we have to come up with solution of ordering UOM which is common to both supplier and customer.

Nikhil

I hope you already checked master data UOM conversion.

Then you check the note 1092896 -- UoM conversion not done in SMI Product Detail screen.

Thank you very much for your answer, however, and please correct me if I'm wrong, this OSS note only seems to convert Technical UoM description to the commercial UoM description. So say it replaces M2 with square meters. It actually will not convert a UoM like EA to M2?

I know the note correction code will allow to you display the Document UOM in SMI screen. Please apply the latest code correction of the note.

All,

as expected this OSS note did not solve the issue. SAP have now confirmed that the SMI details screen is designed to support only the base UoM. Requirement has been captured in the product backlog and will be evaluated in which forthcoming release it can be developed.

Have a good day everyone,

Hi Johanna

I am also having simillar problem and users want to see the SMI monitor values in ordering unit rather than base unit of measure.

We are using SNC 5.1.

Is there any update on resolution of this issue from SAP?

Thanks

Pravin,

in the end we opted for an in house development where we read the Order Unit from the Inforecord and use same functionality as in "Purchase Order overview" screen where you can toggle between the order unit and base unit. I don't think this functionality is available from SAP at this point. If you have any further questions regarding this please don't hesitate to ask.

Johanna

Dear Johanna,

we're currently also in the proof of concept phase for SNC with use of the SMI monitor. We're also encountering the issue that we need the purchase order unit to be displayed in the SMI monitor. Did you already get an answer from SAP on this topic ? If not (or not positive), how did you tackle the development? And did this development work out well in the end? Currently we're completely stuck at this point...

Thank you for your answer,

Kristof
