Implementing Rigging activities in SAP B1

Hello Everybody,

My company works on rigging, trading, and testing of wire ropes, slings, and other products for cranes, lifts etc. They want to implement SAP B1 as its already part of their sister company, which deals with trading of above mentioned products. My questions is: can activities like - rigging, testing, which are projects based, be implemented in any of the SAP B1 module. If yes, then could anybody please give me a brief info on that module to give me direction on where to go and research.

Thank you and kind regards,

Kanu

    Hi Kanu.......

If you dont want to maintain stock of such item then no problem and if you really wish to maintain stock with limited codes them create only one code as testing item which is stock code and manage it batchwise this way you can maintain the stock with only single item code.........

      Hi Rahul,

I can see where you are coming from. And right now I am more than satisfied, but need to research more and then I may come out with more questions. First need to sell the idea to managing director of the company.

Thanks a lot for your support. Good stuff.

      Regards,

      Kanu

    Hi Kanu......

    What is that Rigging, Testing?

Is that production activity of something in which Item Code structure gets changed.

If it is then you have to use Production Module in SAP B1.....

    Regards,

    Rahul

      Hi Rahul,

I understand tracking will be easy and compact if testing is a stock item. But the problem, which I believe can come up, is creating stock codes for diifferent types of testing. We would be creating stock codes for so many different types of testing. Or can the stock codes be limited? The company currently doesn't have stock code for testing as such. So it would be a big change for them as well. My fear is whether they would like to acclimatize with this change along with other major changes.

The second problem which I think we can face is that testing is not actually a measurable stock and is basiclly a service. I mean testing can not be weighted, measured or stocked in warehouse. Can it be? So how would we stock it as? Also, do we need batch controlling as well?

I can see where you are coming from and will try all the suggestions before coming out with final solution.

      Thank you for the reply.
