Experts:

We have a SM which is ABAP only (NOT in production use yet)

It's said that to have full features of SM, JAVA add-on stack is needed for SM.

Exactly what features JAVA stack can help?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Normally ABAP system uses RFC to communicate the Solman system, Java system users Solman Diagnostics

And the other thing is if you hav Java, then you can use SLD and configure the satellote system there and report to solution manager this leads to proper landscape information update.

chk this also [FAQ-SMD|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/4e49dbea-0c01-0010-91bd-f0b61388c9ae]

Thanks,

Jansi

Hi,

With Java stack, you can have SLD and java stack also delivers Solution Manager Diagnostics, there might be certain support restrictions if you don't have Diagnostics or indeed other scenarios that run on the J2EE - from a functionality point of view you will also be unable to fully monitor specific J2EE architecture without Diagnostics delivered by the JAVA stack.

Thanks
