The reference material has a different material type

Hi All,

Now we are working in IS Retail. When creating Article master using MM41, after entering the required details like, Article Type / Mdse Catgry & Artl category and remaining entries like store / vendor etc & selecting views, when i press on enter, system is giving the message as "The reference material has a different material type

Message no. MH017"

Diagnosis

The reference material has a different material type than the material to be created.

System Response

If you have not entered the reference material directly, the reference material from the material group is used as the reference material.

I have not entered reference material, so I checked in material group and there is no option to maintain reference material also.

From where its picking this reference...

And whats this Artl category field ? whats the use of this ?

Regds,

CB

    Hi,

The merchandise category reference article is a template for all articles created in that merchandise category. The merchandise category reference article is automatically determined from the merchandise category when the new article is created. You can override this merchandise category reference article by specifying another article as a template.
