XI 3.0 Web Service returns empty response

Hi all,

When testing an XI web service, the service is returning an empty response. The adapter framework doesn't even show having received a request. It's as if the EJB is asleep. Deciding something must be afoot with the SOAP Adapter Bean, I reviewed the XISOAPAdapter bean settings within the J2EE Visual admin and noticed the XISOAPAdapterBean container size was 0. In fact, all the beans related to the SOAP Adapter had container sizes of 0. Not knowing what I was doing, I thought it best to change the container size to 250. I applied the update and resent my test messages. Low and behold, the messages were received successfully.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why what I did worked? Perhaps it's just a coincidence. If the container size is 0, does this mean the EJB can never get instantiated?

I believe SAP note 789581 addresses this issue. Basically, restarting the adapter results in the correct initialization of the servlet.
