Delta Settings

Hi Experts,

Can any one tell me what are the DELTA settings we have to follow while extracting data using LO-COCKPIT EXTRACTION, GENERIC EXTRACTION AND MASTER DATA EXTRACTION.

Hello Redd,

Delta settings can be checked in LBWE transaction in case of LO cockpit and at the data source level using transaction RSO2 in case of generic extraction.

There are three delta fields are available Timestamp, Cal day and Numeric pointer. Filed can be decided based on the extract structure and frequency of data load to BW. If you don’t know the internal structure and data load frequency, I suggest you to use Timestamp or Numeric pointer field as their usage are quite generic. Besides that check the working condition of full upload and delta implementation using extractor checker simulator (RSA3) before you really start real time full and delta uploads.

Thanks a lot for the information.

At present we are using Generic and Master data and LO Cockpit extraction.

So i want to check where these settings can be done.

i mean the transaction codes.

For LO we can check th. LBWE if iam not wrong.

For example we created a Data source ZSD_VTTS_DATEN using function module Z_SD_VTTS_GET_DATA.

so i want to know based on which field the delta is set up.

and also the same for master data.

Hello,

In order to take care of delta part, Please make sure following things....

1. In case of LO Cockpit: Use V3/Job control and you should start the V3 update, at the minimum, just before the transfer to BW, or depending on your posting volume, even more often in order to transfer changed records to delta queue. How ever you can set the manner in which the data in question is posted during delta by choosing proper update method

a)Serialized V3 update

b)Direct delta

c)Queued delta

d)Non-serialized V3 update

2.In case of Generic extractor: Delta part can be managed by choosing delta field (Time stamp or Calday or numeric pointer) along with safety interval settings at datasource level.

3.In case of master data extraction: BW and R/3 use ALE change pointer technique in order to find changed records. and here my guess is "delta management will be taken care implicitly and not required to do any setting".

Please let me know if i am wrong in case number 3.
