Form Settings does not work as expected

Hi all,

as far as I understand, Form Settings are stored in a the CPRF table, and theses settings are per user. Thus if one user (B1 user) changes something to a list or document, like having a field appear or disappear or modyfing a column width, this should take place only for him/her.

Well this is not what I observe. A customer asked our support departement why in the world when someone changes Form Settings, this is applied to everybody else. I told her that this is not supposed to be, and I then tried for myself in OEC Computers. And I was amazed to see that changes made by one user were impacting another user, in lists as well as in documents.

I run 8.81 and the customer runs 8.8.

So is it a bug or a feature ? Or am I missing something ?

Thanks

Hi Plante,

I think you should not use your Managers account when changing the Form settings.

things to do:

1. login using the users account,

2. Go to your form, then apply form settings( if not authorized to do form settings , just allow using any super user account)

3. after giving the user authorization to change the form settings, now do the necessary adjustments.

Important note: no other instance is running.make sure that no one is using the system upon update of form settings.

Hope this will help you.

Hi Darius,

sorry I don't understand your point. Here is an extract from SAP BusinessOne To Go 8.8:

The form settings are saved by user. To save time, login using a user from each role, and make all the settings you need. Once you are done, login as a super user, open the user setup, located on the Administration > Setup > General > Users, find each user and press the Copy Form settings. This will copy all the settings from the selected user to the other users.

I don't want to copy one user settings to another one. I am talking about the fact that it is stated that these settings are by users. The problem that every user should have his own forms settings. But that's not the case. If one user changes settings according to his needs, these changes are "propagated" to every other user, and it should not according to documentation. It is a great pain to the customer.

I am wondering why. Is there a parameter I don't know, is it a bug, and if so, is it only affecting certain versions ?

A question to moderators: why has this thread been moved to administration ? It is not an administration problem.

I have done some extensive testing.

I can reproduce the problem with List of Windows.

Says user A adds to the list of inventory items column Foreign Description. Then the column will be displayed for every other user. I have tested this also with List of accounts, and the same behavior is found. And in this case, looks like data in the CPRF is not used as expected, as if settings were stored elsewhere.

Form settings to Master Data (Items / Business Partners etc) are company wide - for all users.

Changes to document form settings (AR Invoice etc), are per user

Hi Julie,

can you tell me where your information come from ? And what about List of windows, like List of items ?

Hi plante,

This has always been standard SAP functionality. For List of windows, from the top of my head, I would say they are per user, but I would need to test that to confirm. Someone else might be able to confirm that
