Hello All,
We have set X-Distr. Chain status of a material to "RL" in Sales Org.1 view and corresponding valid from date is in future. However, still system allows that material to be put on sales order and does not give any error.
We want that if the valid from date for the X-Distr. Chain status of a material is in future and the status is RL, system should not allow the material to be placed on the sales order.
Your immediateresponse is highly appreciated.
Thanks & regards.
Sanjay
Hi,
If you want the block to be active from toay onwards then only specify X-Dist.chain Status and do not maintain valid from date or specify Valid from date as today's date.

the date valid from is just what its name is, it tells that the status is valid from this calendar day on and not earlier.
It does not correspond to the delivery date of a sales order, it carees about the creation date.

My Bad,
Didn't notice this earlier, yes what Jurgen has noted is correct, I thought that the valid from date is in the past, and still there is no error when you are creating the S.O
All sales orders created when the valid from date is current or in past for the said material, will throw an error with this material.

Hello Jurgen,
Thanks for your quick response.
I would like to further ask that, the X-Dist. chain status is set to "released" but only thing is that the valid from date is in future. In this case will system prevent this material from putting on sales order if I am creating a sales order today and would system give error in this case. If we want system to give error in the above scenario then what needs to be done.
Can you please confirm.
Thanks.
Sanjay
It looks like you are using the status the other way around.
In customizing of a status you define which action is permitted by error or warning message.
such status is then assigned to material master to stop certain actions.
without a status in material master, you can do everything.
But your RL status looks like (from the name "released" ) is supposed to allow everything, so in general it should work identlical to an not entered status.
For this, the status should not have any detail customizing but a name.
However, such status will not restrict anything then, and the valid from date has no meaning at all to such status, except for documentation (and giving misleading information to the user)
Better create a status for "not released" or "blocked ", and make the field just empty if you release your material.
Thank you Jurgen and Pankaj for your prompt response.
I understand the details mentioned by you, however the business requirement here is the X-Dist. chain status would be maintained as "Released" but material should get released for sales activities only when the "valid from" date is reached. If the date is in future then system should give error if the material is put on sales order today.
How can this be achieved.
Please suggest.
Thanks & regards.

Cannot be done with customizing and standard SAP programs,
you would need to modify
Hi Sanjay,
Please check the sales status in customizing
The sales statuses can be defined in Logistics General>Material Master>Settings for key fields>Data relevant to sales and Dist>Define sales statuses.
Please check whether for Block for order , error is specified or not for RL
Thanks
Shailesh
