Keeping it simple.
Control Tables - Where configurations are stored. Tables from IMG.
Item Category - The configurations which control the further processing of a material is a sales order and subsequent documents.
Could you let me know in what context are you reffering to Item Code Category and Item Code. In Sales Module, I havent come across these terms.
