Variable with value range in Lead column of the layout?

Hi,

I don't think it's straight forward but wanted to know if there is any way to do this.

Let's say i've MATERIAL, CALMONTH characteristics & AMOUNT keyfigure in the level.

I've a VCALMONTH characteristic variable ready for user input (user entry can be a value range for ex.. Jan2004 - Dec 2004).

In the layout , Material is in the lead columns.

Keyfigure(AMOUNT) & CALMONTH is in the data columns.

Now, I'm looking for a layout to provide the following.

MATERIAL JANAMT_ FEBAMT_ MARAMT_ APRAMT_ ........... DECAMT_

=========================================================================

Material1

Material2

I can create 12 rows in the lead columns for AMOUNT & CALMONTH variable offset by -1, -2, -3, -4, ......, -11 to achieve this.

But, in my case, as user enters the value range, it's not always for 12 months. It could be for 3 months, 6 months or 12 months... etc..

How do i handle this?

Hope it is clear.

Apprecaite any kinda suggestions.

    IPBWSEM,

Don't know if I've understood your problem at all, but I think that you just need to put:

    CALMONTH

    AMOUNT

in the Columns box when you define the query with the Query designer, then the report layout will have as many months columns as the user introduces in the variable VCALMONTH.

What do you mean when saying "I can create 12 rows in the lead columns for AMOUNT & CALMONTH variable offset by -1, -2, -3, -4, ......, -11 to achieve this." ?

    Hope it helps,

    Andreu

    • Hi,

You could use the characteristic calmonth as a dynamic one (first screen of the layout builder, expand "Additional settings"). Create on data column on the second screen and set the flag "dynamic". The system will generate as many columns as there are values in the selection for calmonth (in the selection of the planning level/planning package). You can also directly make the system generate as many columns as there are values in a variable (just press the variable button AFTER having switched on the flag for dynamic). This makes sense if the range of values in the variable is different then the selection in the level/package.
