JSPM - "The format of the CAPTION tag in the SP-STACK tag is invalid".

Dear SAP gurus,

I was trying to Update SAP ECC600 SPS12 to SAP ECC 6 EHP 3 SPS 3. For that, I downloaded all the necessary patches (ABAP and Java) + Stack.xml using Solman Optimizer and put them all (after uncompress them) on /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in.

However, when use JSPM to deploy them (Support PAckage Stack) and getting the following error "The format of the CAPTION tag in the SP-STACK tag is invalid". "Stack definition file /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/stack.xml is rejected. Download a new version on SAP Service Marketplace and try again".

I tried to download this xml file several times but I always get the same error. I checked on other Threads that CAPTION tag could be wrong "<sp-stack><caption>17 (10/2008)</caption>".

Do you guys know if this CAPTION tag is wrong? If so, do you guys know if there is a list where I can check what is the equivalent CAPTION tag for SAP ERP 6.0 Support Package Stack 14, SAP ERP Enhancemnt PAckage 3 SP Stack 3, SAP NW 7.0 SPS 17 (10/2008).

I tried this CAPTION tag "<caption>SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 - 17 (10/2008)</caption>" but it is not working either.

Thanks in advance,

Marc

I have read about this problem before... never happen to me though.

Check the EHP guide for the require "minimum" stack level before applying the EHP upgrade. as far as I can see it should be minimum stack 16.

Thanks Juan for your answer!

I have the following system now:

-SAP ERP 6.0 Support Package Stack 12

-SAP NW 7.0 SPS 14 (01/2008)

And after the update I will have:

-SAP ERP 6.0 Support Package Stack 14

-SAP ERP Enhancement Package 3 SP Stack 3

-SAP NW 7.0 SPS 17 (10/2008)

The "SAP Note 1083533 - Installation of Enhancement Package 3 on SAP ERP 6.0" stands:

"For Enhancement Package 3, you require the Support Packages of ERP 6.0 Stack 08 or an installed Enhancement Package 2."

So I think I comply with the minimum SP requirements...

Hi,

I gone through your problem, I have some doubt, so, I need some more information:

As per stack xml file, you are upgrading Java stack to SP17. Is this java stack of ERP or netweaver system ? If it is ERP, I understood, you are upgrading to EHP3 then from where netweaver SP17 came ?

Also, one clarification to you, after EHP3 upgrade your system will be on EHP3 SP3 and this will be support package level not SAP ERP 6.0 SP14. ERP 6.0 SP14 is equivalence level which is equivalent to EHP3 SP3.

Please give more information.

Thanks

Thanks Sunny for your answer.

I might have not be clear enough on my explanation... I want to upgrade all ABAP and Java using JSPM.

The info below I got it directly from the Maintenance Optimizer.

>Initial Constellation

>-SAP ERP 6.0 Support Package Stack 12

>-SAP NW 7.0 SPS 14 (01/2008)

>Target Constellation

>-SAP ERP 6.0 Support Package Stack 14

>-SAP ERP Enhancement Package 3 SP Stack 3

>-SAP NW 7.0 SPS 17 (10/2008)

I understand that I am upgrading:

1.- NW ABAP+Java from SPS 14 to SPS 17

2.-SAP ERP 60 SPS12 to EHP3 SPS3

There are 2 "upgrades". The NW and ERP (both at the same time) this is what Maintenance Optimizer tells me.

I hope this is more clear now.

Hi,

I think your system is a dual stack system. So, as per MOPZ EHP3 equivalent stack of ERP is SP14 (ABAP Part) and Java side equivalent stack is SP17. Am I right or in other way, Is your system is dual stack ?

Also, do you have any ERP component installed on portal ? If not then I would suggest you to download stack xml file from SMP and then try.

Thanks

Dear Sunny

You are right, I have a dual stack system (ABAP and Java). I alredy tried to download stacks for ECC EHP in SMP but it not possible, it only allows me downloading stacks for regular ECC (no EHPs). The only way to download stacks for ECC EHP is using Maintenance Optimizer.

Dear Anil,

I am using the latest Solman stack, this is SPS 26.

Thanks,

Marc
