Open Hub - populate data to external System

Former Member

Hi,

I have successfully created Infospoke and populated the /BIC/0H table. Now I have to populate this data into an Oracle table which is external to BW. I understand that we can use ETL tool like Data stage to do this. Is there any other way of populating data from the Info spoke table to an external system?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

Hi,

I think you have to used the DB connect.

Thanks & Best Regards

DB Connect is normally used to read data into the BW system. You may take a look a RFC_READ_TABLE or RFC_GET_TABLE_ENTRIES.

I hope you know about the additional license fees.

Thanks a lot Dirk.

Now when I run these Function Modules I have to specify the RFC target system which I think in my case would be the Oracle database to which I want to populate data. Is that correct?

Also can you pls tell me more about the extra license?

Thanks again

The RFC destination is your BW system and you need to call the RFC from your Oracle system.

The use of Open Hub to export data to other systems is NOT! covered by standard licenses. This is from the Release Info May 2002 that you can find under

service.sap.com/bw -> SAP BW InfoIndex -> Open Hub Service -> Open Hub Positioning:

Pricing

Whenever you extract data from the SAP BW environment into 3rd-party target systems your SAP BW Enterprise Data Warehouse functions as an ‘Open Hub Platform’

The Open Hub Service is one tool among other functions to accomplish this task. Additionally, DataBrowser functionality (ListCube transaction) or CRM interfaces can also be used to export data, and many other options are possible.

Extracting data from SAP BW by any means requires additional licensing!

For additional pricing information please contact your SAP representative.
