Could anyone please tell me what is the different between BW and SEM reporting? If we have SEM, do we need to have BW too? thanks in advance.

Sajita,

The reporting sub-module (Component) in SEM is called CPM (Corporate Performance Monitor) as per it name stands, its used to major the performance in many different ways, which is not possible in standard BW way.. like Balance ScoreCard (BSC), Value Driven trees and specially the Management Cockpit.. you can find very good info in the SAP Service docs..

Good luck

I am trying to use field 'FKDAT' Actual Billing/Settlement Date, which is stored in table JHTFK in R/3 system as my key field in my query. Here I am trying to use Business content cube. How do I know if this field is there or not? I don't see the same field name in the incube, do I have anyother ways to check it?

Lets' say the cube is : 0MEMAMC05

thanks in advance.

Sajita,

You can't find by top down approach here.. you have to use bottom-up way.. first find out what all DataSources in R/3 that field is being used..and also find the relative InfoSource name in BW (in most of the cases there are same) .. and also lookinto the Transfer Structures to see what InfoObject that field is mapped.. and finally look for the data providers to which that InfoSource is attached...

hope I am not confused u..

Good luck

oops..should be Transfer Rule...and not the Transfer Structure.. and one more..if you are specific to one cube.. just find the InfoSources feeding that cube and see the Transfer STructure whether the KeyFigure is there..if Yes, look into the Transfer rule for which Infoobject it got mapped..

Sajita,

go to your update rules, take the technical name and then go to the infosource page and with the name taken before, search your feeding infosource; in the transfer rules you can see your R/3 field mapped with a BW infoobject !

Sorry guys, this is not the right subject to ask this question but, The field I am looking for FKDAT is not in my infocube. it's a date, and do I have to add that into my cube or can I use 0CALDAY, but it will not pick up the same date from R/3 system which has been stored in the FKDAT field, right?

Please explain me. thank you.

Hi Sajita,

I don't have your industry specific R/3 (media), so I can't see anything on my system...

colud you tell me:

- the technical name of the update rules linked to your cube

- the time reference of your cube and how they are mapped in your update rules

Let me know...

Bye,

Roberto

Hello Sajita,

a SEM system always includes a BW system and it is this BW system that is used for reporting.
