24/7 operation or weekly maintenance needed?

Hi,

This might be an odd question.

Does anyone have experience of a netweaver system needing a weekly maintenance outage period?

Or can it run 24/7 all year apart from applying updates?

SAP application does not require weekly Maintainence. Sap does have their release and upgrade strategy. So maintainence comes into picture when you have any performance issue or any upgrade required. for e.g. Suggestion on EWA alert or anything. Another example if you are using linux Operating then after a certain time you need to scan the file system. So these strategy has been depends on the Company policy.

You require outage for sure but depends on your requirements.

like when we do support pack we need outage, changeing profiles need outage and so on...

If your system is installed in HA no outage is required...

It is better to restart all SAP server once per month.(And this can be planned outage)
