Query Designer in BW 3.5

Hi All,

Query Designer does not seem to part of standard template 0ADHOC - any ideas as to how to easily add Query Designer in BW3.5. Also, any good documentation around web reporting in 3.5 would be appreciated.

    Hi senthil,

we didn't include the call of the Ad-hoc query designer in 0ADHOC-Template, which is the standard template for executing queries. The reason for that:

This template will be called when you already have your query defined (either when executing the query from query-designer or from the role menu or from the Portal roles, ...). No need to define a new query.

The need to execute a query from the role menu and then changing it is not often, especially as the adhoc-Query Designer will only allow restricted changes.

So we decided to split the scenarios a little bit. 0ADHOC-Template doesn't have the posssibility to create new querys or open exisiting queries. But we developed a second template the 0ANALYZER template which gives you these opportunites (loading of queries and views and creating new queries). This template is more meant as an application. You set it up once in your intranet/portal and the users can open any query or create a new query, in contrary when you already know which query you want to see.

If you scenario is different you could easily make 0ANALYZER as your default template.

By the way: what do you mean with good documentation. What is missing in the standard documentation?
