Call up report for commitments and actuals defaulting dates

In one of our custom report (report painter report) of Investment Management we are calling up project and orders line item reports. Like in the report assignment we have KOB2N and KOB1 called up for orders and

RT RKPEP003 and RKPEP005 for projects which calls up cji3 and cji5 respectively.

While calling up from the report painter we first actually get messages for "No suitable records found"

This issue seemed to get over when I call up CJI5 seperately and select a higher range of dates as by default it comes only for this period. Next when I go back to the report painter report and call up the line item report for commitments of projects it works fine.

But when I log off and log in back and again call up report it again does not work until the above task is repeated.

I thought of creating a variant with a wider date range. But even after creating the variant it does not work from the report painter.

Is there any way to default the selection date ranges always while calling up the report?

One of the report called up from the report painter is the ABAP program RKPEP005 which is the Project Commitment line report. As I said everytime the user logs and calls up this report the output is defaulted the current period.

So the debit date is defaulted automatically to the current period.

However it seems looking into the program RKPEP005 and into the other sdn posts that is coded in the program. I have tried to set a variant but that does not work as the report report interface in the report painter has no option to set up with the variant of the report.

Changing the standard program ......I dont think is a better option. So please suggest if there is any other way.
