Retrieve name of current top-level navigation node?

I'm sure this is a Portal-101 lesson, and I have seen the various API's associated with Nodes, etc, but I haven't been able to put the pieces together!

Is there a way to retrieve the name of the top-level node associated with the current iView/Page? (or from whatever node you are currently at, for that matter). More than likely, this is a Role of some sort.

I have seen the Navigation example which creates a java tree containing all of the portal nodes for the current user, but I haven't seen how to locate the chain of nodes (all the way to the top) for the currently selected node.

Thanks,

John
