Audit Stats Question - Getting Stats for a single InfoProvider from a Multi

Does anyone know if there is a way to identify which InfoProviders comprising a MultiProvider are most frequently providing data to users?

We have data stored annually in individual InfoCubes and then we have a single MultiProvider which has reports built on it. We are trying to determine if users are no longer pulling data from a certain time frame.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Well that should have been clarified by the business req.

There is no central repository in BI which will satisfy your requirement.

Try to understand why the report was built and why is it generally used.

This is more of a functional question rather than a technical one.

Thanks for the feedback Rahul. Unfortunately this isn't really a process question.

To clarify, our architecture is divides the data into seperate InfoProviders depending on year. We do this to make loads run faster and also to speed up the 90% of our queries which run against the most recent data. However, we have also created Multiproviders so that some reports can be run for historical analysis.

Now we are in a stage where we are considering a data aging strategy. As part of this we are considering offline archival of data but we need to determine the appropriate age at which data is rarely viewed.

Unfortunately our user base is extremely diverse (both geographically and in terms of how they use data). Often the best way to see how our BW system is used isn't to ask the users (who often tell us how they "should" be using the data not how they actually are using it), but rather to look at statistics.

Ah well ... it was worth a shot.
