Hi Gaurav,

Below are my comments:

Sandbox System: Sandbox is not a system but it refers to an environment just like DEV, QUALITY, PRODUCTION etc. Sandbox is an environment where you can freely do R&D and experiements. This is before DEV environment. It is always suggested to build Sandbox environment and test developments, System upgrades etc in Sandbox environment first and then apply these to Development environment.

For more information about Sandbox environment please check below link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandbox_%28software_development%29

Integration server: This terms is not related to MDM, instead this is used in Process Integration (PI). There is no Integration Server in MDM. I hope you are not confused with application Server and Integration Server.

Hope this will clear your concepts. Please revert if any further questions.

Hello Shiv,

Many thanks for your valuable response. I've got my answer.

And yes you're right, MDM can't be a Integration server it's an application server (Correct me if I'm wrong). And any specific reason why you've suggested to use Sandbox before DEV? Can it be before PROD? just asking to clear a doubt.

Warm Regards,

Gaurav

Hi,

MDM is not an ABAP or Java based system or Server.

I thinking about Sandbox is, Sandbox is a system for experiments and trials. If you want to try any new thing is the system, then try it in Sandbox first. For example, if you want to test a patch/service pack upgrade, then do it in sandbox first, then in dev, QA and prod. putting or testing something in sandbox before dev reduces risks with the dev box.
