Change the InfoObject in production

Hi All,

I have an infoobject of length 5 type Char. I want to increase the length of the same. Now the problem is I have ODS in which this infoobject is used, already in production. Can i Change length of this infoobject??

or do I have to delete the data in ODS for change to take place??

Please reply at the earliest.

    Hi All,

    To clarify if any one has misunderstood. I repeat my question.

    1. I want to change lenght of an infoobject.

    2. This infoobject is used in an ODS.

    3. On production, this ODS is having current data.

    4. Can I change length for this infoobject?

    If yes, please guide me.

    Hi Rahul,

    yes you can change the length. As long as you are adding information or increasing a field length this is not critical. May be your import into production will last a bit longer than usually because of some conversions, but that should be it. So feel free to change. But you cannot change the lenght/datatype of a keyfigure that is already used.
