default prompt values in webI report???

Former Member

I am using BO XI 3.1 on BW universe, I have a prompt A in the prompt window which has many Lov's but user will freequently use only three values out of it.

So I want to make those three values to be default for that promp A when ever the report gets refreshed, so that it will be easy for user not to search in the big list for those 3 values.

Any inputs please.

Thanks,

Hello,

I was going to tell you that you can make a custom LOV in the universe, then I came across this post which may help you understand how to do it.

Thanks

Hi,

You can make some values as default prompt values by webi report.

1) Open the webi report.

2) Edit the query then go to the prompt

3) Go to the prompt properties checked the chekcbox "Set default values" and type the three values and ok.

So next time user refresh the report all three values come in the filter default. They can remove or add more values in the list.but every time all values come in the filter.

Thanks,

Amit

...and if you're scheduling, you can go to the properties of the report, then 'prompts' and select the defaults there.

Hi wavery

Thank you for the link, but it is not for OLAP universe. For OLAP universe the Tools-> List of values->Edit List of values will be inactive beacause we cannot edit list of values for the OLAP universes.

Thank you for the reply, yes that option will work but the prompt which I am talking is from Bex query global filter section not from the webI report, Edit query, query filters section.

yes in this case we can make set default values as our wish and also we can keep the last values selected.

@david:

I didn't get exactly, if we scheduled what properties should we go into? instance?

Thought I have gone for the properties I don't see any thing on prompts.

Hi,

Why are you not defining the default values in the BEx variable itself? Once you define it in the BEx then it would automatically

transferred to BO.

To define the default values directly in BO you need to chage the generated definition of the prompt in the Universe Designer.

You can refer the help guide to see the syntax.

I would suggest if possible then define the deafult values of the prompt in BEx query variable itself.

Hi,

After you drag the dimension in the query filters you want to filter on, select the operator Inlist and as it says Enter value(s) from Dimension:, you'll see a ? mark icon, click on it and a window will pop up where you have an option to check Set default values and enter the default values.

Let us know if that helps.
