SAPGUI 7.20 - SAPLOGON.INI Appearance Mod - If possible

Former Member

Hello All,

My sincere thanks to previous contributors for answering my basic questions so far.

I've got a standard SAPLOGON.INI setup that will be deployed to all 24K SAPGUI users in my company. I'm utilizing the Tree View as my default but I'd like to adjust the appearance of the saplogon itself and save that as a default.

Here is the way my SAPLogon looks when you execute saplogon.exe -

Here is the way I want it to look when an end user starts saplogon.exe -

Is this possible?

Thanks and Regards,

-Jeff-

Jose,

Sorry I didn't include this in my original reply. I thought of it afterwards. Here's a link to a capture of my current registry settings.

Looking at this graphic, I'm not sure which ColumnOrder(#) and ColumnWidth(#) correspond with the Names, Description, etc columns in the SAPLOGON. Maybe knowing this will help me accomplish what I'm trying to do.

1 = Name

2 = System Description

3 = SID

4 = Group/Server

5 = Inst.No.

6 = Message Server

7 = Route(s)

Make sure to make the registry changes when SAPGUI is not running. It saves the "current view" whenever you close it so if you make changes while it's running, you'll lose them when you close it.

Jose,

I tried every combination I could think of, including setting them all to a 0 and no luck. The appearance of the SAPLOGON does not change as a result. The Description Column still overlaps the Name column as displayed in my previous image link when I launch the SAPGUI.

Now I did try this on my old test machine with SAPGUI 7.10 and yes, that worked like a charm. It appears that utilizing the "Tree View" in SAPGUI 7.20, I can't get those changes to work by manipulating the registry.

Again, with the SAPGUI 7.20, utilizing the "Tree View" I just want the Name column to be the only column displayed to the end user when they launch the SAPGUI. That is, if that's possible.

Thanks so much for your patience and back and forth on this!! I really appreciate your time!!

Hi Jose,

I actually tried but obtained no changes in the appearance of the saplogon. The machine I'm testing on is a Win-7 OS and the key does indeed exist under HKCU. I tried multiple iterations of changing the column widths and got no look and feel changes when executing saplogon.exe after those settings changes in the registry.

Do you happen to know which ColumnWidth(#) entry in the registry corresponds with the Description Column in the Saplogon? Maybe knowing that will help me to disable it altogether.

Thanks for your help!!

Regards,

On the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\SAPLogon\Settings\Connections

Set the column width to zero for the columns that you don't want displayed. You'll have to push this key to your users if you want to change their settings.
