Hi,
We have problems to open and update WI Richclient reports with a dataprovider from excelworkbook after installing sp3. We get the following message: "Unable to create or update the Excel personal data provider: cannot open the workbook (WIS 10872). We have office 2003 and BO version 12.3.0 (XI 3.1 sp3). The report worked fine before the sp3 installation, but now we can't even open the report.
Is there anyone who has a clue?
Hello,
Is your XLS file saved as Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook (.xls) or Microsoft Excel 97 - Excel 2003 Workbook & Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook (.xls) ?
Have you tried re-saving the XLS file in the Microsoft Excel 97 - Excel 2003 Workbook & Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook (*.xls)?
Best,
Srinivas

Hi, Thank's for your reply but I'm sorry to say that it did'nt solve our problem. We saved the file as both of your suggestions but we get the same errormassage
When we save the file as .xlsx (office 2010) then we can open the report but we can't redirect the dataprovider to that excelsheet that is saved to .xlsx. And we get the errormassage when we try to update the report without redirecting to the .xlsx sheet aswell.
I hope we can get an answer soon, outherwise we must take the sp2 back because then the reports worked fine.
Hi David,
The report is saved locally and the excelwoorkbok is saved in the same place.
We get the errrormessage immediately when we try to open the report (.wid) with the Personal Data Provider pointing to 2003 excelwoorkbook (.xls). When we save the excelfile as .xlsx (office 2010) then we can open the report but not update the question with the PDP and we can't get to the PDP to try to redirecting it to the .xlsx file because that file extension is not an option to choose.
I hope you can understand my poor english....
