Deploying web dynpro app to a central J2EE instance

Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to deploy web dynpro applications from the Netweaver Developer Studio (sp-stack 9) to a central J2EE instance. I've not installed the local J2EE engine, nor do i want to, which means that i don't have the SDM installed either. Central J2EE engine is currently sp-stack 7, but will be upgraded to sp-stack 9 in a week. The documentation is not clear on what the options are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Brian

    Hi Brian,

Yes, you could deploy the applications from NDS to any server. In NDS, navigate to Window->Preferences->SAP J2EE Engine. Then select the radio button to "SAP J2EE engine is installed on a remote machine" option. Set you central message server host and the port. This should solve your problem.

From a Good practice point of view, if the central system is not equivalent to a local test system, it is not ideal to deploy from the NDS. You should try to use the DTR to do this..

    Thanks and Regards,

    Sam Mathew

    Hello Brian,

it is right that is possible to deploy to any J2EE using the settings Sam has described.

But if your Studio is SP9 the applications will not run on a Engine with SP7. Your Engine has to be the same or higher Stack than your Studio.

    kind regards

    Marco
